Two young stars of the classical music scene, a world-class orchestra, Tchaikovsky's most popular symphony, Mozart's cheerful Twentieth and Shostakovich's haunting Cello Concerto: the ingredients for a perfect concert have been gathered together. We are very much looking forward to the start of the brilliant residency of Russian cellist Anastasia Kobekina. She wowed the Bonn audience for the first time at the opening concert of the Beethovenfest 2023 with her technical brilliance. Her straightforward, powerful and natural playing style is ideally suited to Shostakovich's laconic, sometimes acerbic music, which she has already proven with a recording. Her compatriot Maxim Emelyanychev conducts the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and is coming to Bonn for the first time - for two concerts. On the penultimate day of the festival, he will perform with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, as whose chief conductor he has made a name for himself in recent years.
