Shortly before graduating, Beat is optimistic about the future, but suddenly his relationship with music changes - and with it, everything changes. His life loses its structure and he loses touch with reality. But how can he live without music? In her debut Beat (Oktaven), Ann Kathrin Ast tells the story of a young student who doubts himself and his relationship with music. The author was awarded the Baden-Württemberg Literature Scholarship, the Anna Haag Literature Prize and the Palatinate Prize for Literature (Young Talent category) for her novel 2024. And she knows what she's talking about, having studied the cello herself and looked behind the scenes of the world of classical music. Together with percussionist Leonie Klein, who will provide the appropriate beats for the reading, Ann Kathrin Ast will present her "wild book about and full of music" (Die Rheinpfalz) at the ROMANFABRIK.
