DIFFERENT TIMES

The Anna Kalk Quartet is a dynamic ensemble from Bern, Switzerland. Anna Kalk's compositions are introspective (i.e. inward-looking) explorations of the darker sides, the struggles and the bitterness of life. At the same time, they reflect the warmth and comfort that arise when life is turned upside down.

Their music thrives on contrasts. With angular rhythms and driving bass lines juxtaposed with expansive melodies and gentle soundscapes, it illustrates the intensity associated with life's changes. Whether it's the tremor of a transition, the melancholy of an ending or the uncertainty of a new beginning, Anna's music acknowledges that life is ultimately bigger than all of us - a realization that can be deeply comforting.

Anna Kalk is a guitarist from Estonia. For the past six years she has lived in Germany and Switzerland and performed in various formations such as Assonance, KBK, EDNA, Noblique and Anemoon.
