It is the marriage novel par excellence and one of "the most important books ever written" (Daniel Schreiber): "Anna Karenina" by Lev Tolstoy. At the center is Anna, whose marriage fails and she gets divorced. She throws herself into a consuming love story, is reviled by society and chooses death. This is just one example of the success or failure of the social construct of "marriage", as we also see how another couple - Kitty and Lewin - find each other, grow together and find fulfillment.

At the invitation of Daniel Schreiber, Meike Rötzer tells one of the greatest classics of world literature in one evening. The actress and author (and founder of the Erzählbuchverlag) takes up the old tradition of oral storytelling and condenses novel and theater material from world literature into lively stories.
