THANK YOU GOOD
is often the inaccurate answer to a question about how you feel when you don't want to burden the person asking with the truth, which is often less crisp.
THANK YOU GOOD is usually the end of a benevolent but half-hearted conversation between two people who care about each other and therefore don't want to tell each other what's on their minds.
THANK YOU GOOD is the ice on the surface that needs to be scratched or even broken in order to discover all the fish, octopods and sunken ships that lie beneath.
In our case, DANKE GUT is the title of an album, and underneath the DANKE GUT lies a collection of songs about shy sailors, pyrene tourists longing for death and neighbors who would also like to have a package sent to them.
It's about the fear that lies beneath the shortened answer and the loneliness that comes from staying home alone with the fear. And it's about the people who are sometimes needed to get you out of the hole and into the air, the people who encourage you to put on pants or go out without them because you don't always need them. Those people you call friends if you dare.
These friends who tell you that courage means taking your fear everywhere with you instead of not going anywhere because of it.
Clemens, his cello, and I have traveled so much together in recent years that we have become friends
At some point, however, Clemens got tired of tapping on his cello or even having to beatbox just because I wanted "more oomph". And then Alex came along and said: hey.
That's all it took.
So DANKE GUT has become a trio album, recorded under Alex's bunk bed. It is an album full of doubt and full of hope.
Because even if no one believes in themselves, but everyone believes in each other, in the end everyone believes.
And that's a good thing,
because adventure calls
And if it's not calling you
It's time for you to seek it out
