Knights of Krakow, dancing tigers, Viennese streetcar rides, love stories between seagulls and scorpions, pirates playing street music, fatal election results, 29 broken bones.

Almost five years after her debut album "Smells Like Home", singer/songwriter aNNika presents her second studio album "LUV" (release date: 13.03.2020 on Kleio Records). Similar to a book of short stories, the Viennese musician packages her experiences episodically and in a charming band-in-a-room aesthetic as a ten-part work in which love plays an essential role alongside several rope lengths of sailor's yarn.
In the songs she has chosen and written during this period, aNNika alias Annika Prey recalls icons such as Dolores O'Riordan (The Cranberries) or Alanis Morissette in powerful passages, while quieter parts sometimes resemble Mira Lu Kovacs. Concertgoers also compare the Viennese songwriter to artists such as Björk, Feist and Ani DiFranco.

The title of the album "LUV" alludes - in addition to the English slang spelling (Luv/Love) - to the term used in the sailor's language. It is the side facing the wind, the one lying "upwind", the one that meets the air current first and pushes through it.
In addition to declarations of love to people, animals and cities, the album is also a tool for emotional coping and processing for aNNika ("I am Fine").

However, the focus is on whimsical stories, ranging from knights from Krakow who are cursed by their greedy king to an existence as pigeons ("Fate"), to an unusual romance between a seagull and a scorpion ("Seagull"), to an ode to the capital of South Tyrol and Austria ("Sleeping Beauty Bolzano" and "Vienna").

For "LUV", aNNika (vocals, guitar, ukulele) teamed up with producer Thomas Böck and worked with him on the sound of her band (Joana Karácsonyi - cello, backing vocals, Lukas Popp - double bass, backing vocals and Sebastian Simsa - drums).
