Purring and roaring engines, skillful play with gears and speed and a boundless feeling of freedom: could be a good advertisement for motorsport, or? Perhaps even for the Yamaha Fazer model range? But it fits at least as well with the works of the Munich band Fazer, which creates improvised music from Afrobeat, Krautrock Dub Techno and Jazz and lets the engines roar, especially on their latest album. So there we have the connection in the examination of name and title.

The band is equipped with two drums for the best drum grooves, while perfectly placed trumpet and guitar tracks provide catchy melodies. On their new album "Yamaha", the wild ride is first given an artistic drift in the studio with trombones, acoustic guitars and various percussion, but then shifts up a gear live! As a result, the quintet, consisting of bassist Martin Brugger, trumpeter Matthias Lindermayr, guitarist Paul Brändle and drummers Simon Popp and Sebastian Wolfgruber, take you on a roaring and varied ride through the world of indie, jazz and psychedelic rock.

The instrumental composition of Fazer is anything but a coincidence: for the Munich-based musicians, two drummers are a sensible means of realizing complex rhythms in the best possible way. And the fact that there is no pianist at the start is something that can be tolerated, as it creates more scope for the individual development of the other instruments. In this way, the band succeeds in merging the individual and independent elements into an organic and flowing overall sound and playing with expectations: Sometimes they are broken, sometimes fulfilled.
