Artist Talk: Julie Mehretu im Gespräch mit Kimberly Bradley

The Ethiopian-American artist Julie Mehretu (*1970, Addis Ababa) is one of the most influential painters of our time. With around 100 works, this largest survey exhibition in Germany to date shows the entire spectrum of Mehretu's work, from her early, urbanistic line drawings of the 1990s to her most recent, spectacular abstract paintings. On the opening night, the artist will speak with Kimberly Bradley about artistic influences, the creative process and current projects.

Kimberly Bradley is an art critic, publicist and lecturer based in Berlin. She has written for publications such as Frieze and The New York Times, edited catalogs and artist books for institutions such as KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Haus der Kunst and Gropius Bau, and taught seminars on contemporary art practice at NYU Berlin for ten years. She is an editor at Art Basel Stories and was curator of Art Basel Conversations in Basel and Miami Beach in 2024.
