ARTOTHEK UNTERWEGS -
Fließende Geschichten / Flowing narratives

In the organizer's words:

Painting performance & exhibition

How can we tell our story? How can we connect with others through our stories? The artist Godwin Namanyabyoona tells his story without words through the spontaneous use of paint, brush and pencil.

In a participatory painting performance on 22.03.2025 from 2 to 5 pm, he shares his knowledge and invites participants of all ages to draw and paint together. The result will be a series of pictures about arriving, leaving, being (un)welcome and waiting.

From 22.03. to 28.04.2025, the artist will present his own works and the picture sheet created in the joint performance in the Careteria and in the Artothek lending room.

An event organized by the municipal art space Artothek & Bildersaal and the Careteria as part of the event series "International Weeks against Racism". Information here.

Godwin Namanyabyoona left Uganda in 2018 to escape the pressure of the military regime. He had previously founded an independent artists' group in Kampala City. In his artistic work, he deals with Uganda's colonial history and its current manifestations, among other things. Complementary and contradictory elements in his pictures make this confrontation tangible.
