Inspired by the spoken word and spiritual motifs of Chiluba culture, Fiston Mwanza Mujila and Pablo Gīw meet at the interface of surrealism and free jazz. They invent a sonic and poetic universe to reflect on power relations and deconstruct all forms of domination and hegemony. Themes such as war, colonialism, cultural appropriation, exploitation and racism accentuate this performance, whose form is reminiscent of the alterations of consciousness in trance states and possession rituals. Screams, sounds of nature, animal noises, chants, incantations, prayers, parables, improvisations, sound collages, repetitions and references make this evening a space where anything is possible, a new kind of utopia that opens up to the audience in a redemptive and inviting way.
