Mitsuko Uchida has been one of the top international piano interpreters for decades. And time and again, the "Grande Dame of fine tones", as BR-Klassik dubbed the musician, is acclaimed for her Schubert interpretations. So her recital at the Kulturpalast, which has proven to be a congenial concert hall for the top pianists who have performed at the festival (last year, for example, Hélène Grimaud and Igor Levit), will once again include this composer on the program. Schubert was to complete his creative life at the age of just 31 with the B flat major Sonata, which is now regarded as the highlight of his piano oeuvre. Uchida makes no secret of the fact that her heart beats especially for Viennese classical music and German-Austrian piano literature: "Every day of my life on which I am allowed to play Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and the music of our time - for me, that is a gift from somewhere. If there is heaven, then this is heaven." So let her and her special aura whisk you away to these heavenly spheres!
