A Trail Of Candles & Beginnings

With their mystical soundscapes and ethereal vocals, AURI serve as a key to a dimension of wonder that no one else can see. With their magical powers, the magical Finns aim to melt the hardest of hearts on September 21 in Stuttgart's Liederhalle.

In the fleeting moments between the state of being awake and reaching the gates of the dream world lies a borderland from which the atmospheric music of ancient tales comes - the heavenly interplay of three creative souls known as AURI. Originally born in 2011 from the special union of Johanna Kurkela, Tuomas Holopainen and Troy Donockley, AURI was only introduced to the world in 2018. Now augmented by the dynamic percussion talents of Kai Hahto, the trio creates fantastical worlds that are all their own.

Consisting of Tuomas' keyboard instruments and infinite imagination, Troy's arsenal of flutes, other folk instruments and his magical touch, and Kurkela's youthful and delicate voice full of childlike wonder - fragile and gossamer, yet powerful and moving beyond words - the flow of AURI's heavenly, uplifting mood music captures from the first notes and never lets go.

For its main members, AURI is a creative outlet, freeing themselves from the preconceptions and expectations of their other bands and their respective audiences. Rooted in Celtic folk and cinematic pop, yet not bound to any particular genre, AURI is music that cannot be described in words alone. The equal work of the enchanted three moves on its own trajectory, free from all expectations except their own. This is a kind of music that works directly on the emotions.
