with Ricarda Brosch, curator of the East and South Asia department at MARKK

Ricarda Brosch has been the curator of the East and South Asia department at MARKK since 2024. She presents her work in the "Unpacked" series using architectural elements from the collection. These ceramics from architectural buildings were increasingly acquired by Western collectors from the 19th century onwards. It is interesting to note that their place of origin, i.e. their provenance, was often a decisive factor in their collection and is therefore sometimes more precisely documented than with other objects. In this discussion, we will go in search of the original palaces and temples from which the ceramics originate and consider how this architectural heritage can be exhibited and further researched in the museum.
