Ausstellung "Klima-wandelt" + Workshops

In the organizer's words:

Program for the exhibition "Klima wandelt" - as part of the project "Caritas macht Klima im Quartier":

Exhibition "Climate changes" - 05.05-31.05.2025

Project week - 05.-09.05.2025:

Mon. 05.05:

6-8 pm: Vernissage - exhibition "Klima wandelt " - for everyone!

The Climate Changes exhibition offers up-to-date information on climate change and its consequences worldwide, illustrated with photos and graphics. One focus is on photos by Icelandic photographer Ragnar Axelsson, who has been traveling in the Arctic for more than 25 years. Global climate change is having a particularly strong impact there. Another focus is on the consequences of climate change in NRW. The exhibition concept was developed by Michael Funcke-Bartz (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit). Tue. 06.05:

5-8 p.m.: Upcycling - toiletry bags made from TetraPak and fabric remnants - workshop with Bianca Benzer - from 12 years, up to 6 people

In this workshop we will learn how to sew toiletry bags from TetraPaks and fabric remnants. Whether as a gift or for your own use, creating something new from something old is always fun!

Please note: You are welcome to bring cotton fabrics in beautiful colors and/or patterns from home.

Wed. 07.05:

18-19:45: VielFalterei - workshop with Eva Hackler - waste paper as a creative raw material - from 10 years, up to 10 people

Is climate change changing our perception of things that were previously regarded as waste? Waste paper is now becoming an interesting raw material that will be turned into gift bags, origami folding boxes and pop-up cards in this workshop.

Thu. 08.05:

4-7 p.m.: Ideas instead of waste - workshop with Margarete Rettkowski-Felten - from 14 years, up to 12 people

The effects of climate change can be felt all over the world. Pictures from an exhibition lead into discussion and experience reports. Caritas offers help in many cases where we are overwhelmed by fire, floods or heat. Many images of disasters remain in our memories.

Artistic design helps us to process them. "Ideas instead of waste" is therefore the name of the active creative design in the last practical part of the workshop. Final discussion with the whole group.

Fri. 09.05:

3-6 p.m.: Upcycling art workshop with Roland Scheel-Rübsam - for adults, up to 10 people.

Everyone brings a "found object" to the workshop. I.e. something found on the way to Bochumer Str. 37 or an object from home. It is important that it is wearable and not too big. The found object will be the basis for creative texts in the workshop, brainstorming about these objects and it is also possible that it will become part of a work of art with the agreement of the participants.

The results in the form of poems, language, stories, objects and conceptual art will be recorded in writing (text) and objects (works of art) will be photographed.

Each workshop participant develops a very personal result.

Please note: As colors will be used during the workshop (painting/art), please bring appropriate clothing or an apron (for protection). The artist assumes no liability

The exhibition can be visited until 31.05.2025 during the opening hours of the Treffpunkt Steele. Admission is free of charge.
