Ausstellungseröffnung ChallengingDemocracy - Von Helmut Schmidt bis heute

PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:

The traveling exhibition #ChallengingDemocracy will open at the Volkshochschule Hannover on March 3. At a reception afterwards, there will be a greeting from the mayor Thomas Hermann and an introductory impulse from the curators.

The exhibition will be on display daily in the foyer of the VHS from March 4 - April 17!

Democracy challenges us every day. At the same time, preserving it means making use of the freedom and opportunities it offers us all. This applies to many pressing issues: How do we master globalization, digitalization and climate change? How can we make our lives and economies more sustainable and society more socially just? And how do we counter those who offer overly simple solutions to these complex problems? Helmut Schmidt was Federal Chancellor in times of upheaval. People were already passionately discussing many of the issues that concern us now 50 years ago.

#ChallengingDemocracy is the name of the touring exhibition organized by the Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt Foundation. It takes a biographical look at Schmidt as an actor in contemporary history, linking the historical topics and debates of the 1970s and 1980s in the Federal Republic of Germany. The exhibition builds a bridge between history and the present. And it poses the question to all of us: What contribution do we want to make to the future of our democracy?

This exhibition is presented by the ZeitZentrum Zivilcourage of the state capital Hanover in cooperation with the Bundeskanzler-Helmut-Schmidt-Stiftung.
