Ausstellungseröffnung. Sammlung neu entdeckt V. Die östliche Ostsee im letzten Jahrhundert

Bright beaches, woven beach chairs with pennants, harbors with fishing boats and smoking excursion steamers, fishermen mending nets, strollers on sea bridges - the eastern Baltic Sea on the Curonian Spit, in Nidden (now Nida, Lithuania), Neukuhren (now Pionerski, Kaliningrad Oblast), Brunshaupten (today Kühlungsborn, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) or in Heiligendamm, captured on historical glass plate negatives from the last century as well as in prints and paintings from the "Former East German Artothek" collection of the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Haus Foundation.

Artists whose origins are linked to the historical German East lived here for a time or spent their summer holidays here, and some of their landscape depictions of the eastern Baltic Sea have been preserved and are now part of the "Former East German Artotheque" collection of the Gerhart Hauptmann House Foundation.

In the exhibition, prints of the glass plate negatives, which impress with their photographic quality that has been preserved for over a century, are shown together with selected paintings and prints.
