Auwaldtour Sommer: Auf dem Motorboot durch die sattgrüne Auwaldlandschaft - mit Biologen

The alluvial forest is an oasis in the middle of the city. Even in the hot, dry summer months, it impresses with its lush greenery and dense canopy of leaves, providing shade and tranquillity.

Your tour of this summer paradise begins at the Klingerweg boathouse via the Palmengarten weir through the flood bed. After the Connewitz lock, the mood suddenly changes: from summer hustle and bustle to pleasant, calming, cooler nature.

A dense carpet of shrubs and grasses covers the forest floor. Mountain maple, pedunculate oak, common ash, field elm and small-leaved lime grow in the sky. Even a flowering perennial can still be found - the wolfsbane.

Shy inhabitants are deer and wild boar and the European wildcat. Cheekier is the red fox, which you will see more often. However, you will definitely come across some of the more than 100 bird species! Cheerful songbirds and the odd woodpecker will accompany your summer tour and, with a bit of luck, even a kingfisher.

You will enjoy the trip for around 120 minutes. The captain will tell you things that you will only learn on this tour: amazing facts about the flora and fauna passing by and moving stories about Leipzig's alluvial forest.

The trip starts and ends at the Klingerweg boat rental. You can also get on or off at the jetty at the racecourse.
