Axel Hacke liest und erzählt

Axel Hacke's latest book is called "Ouch! The story of my body". Like all of his books, it is clever and funny, comforting and enlightening and also extremely personal. It deals with questions such as: What is it like to live with a whistling sound in your ear for fifty years? How can an invitation to the "Literary Quartet" lead to a knee injury? How do you break a bone while meditating? It is about the infirmities, but also the triumphs of a man's body in the second half of the sixties - and about the great, never-ceasing amazement at its functioning. Hacke provides insights into the banal and the mysterious, the funny and the terrible, the beautiful and the repulsive. He himself says of his book: "It is outrageous. Also shameless. As always with me."

Because his readings are never just about one book, but about everyone and everything, he also performs the most humorous texts from his complete works. The result will be what Hacke always creates on stage: a cheerful evening.

Axel Hacke is a writer who lives in Munich. He is famous for his column "Das Beste aus aller Welt", which he has published every week for decades in the "Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin". He is one of Germany's best-known authors, his books are bestsellers and have been translated into numerous languages. His work has been awarded the Joseph Roth Prize, two Egon Erwin Kisch Prizes, the Theodor Wolff Prize and, most recently, the Ben Witter Prize.
