Axel Hacke liest und erzählt

Axel Hackes has written a new book. It's called: "How do you feel? About our inner life in times like these" - and that's exactly what it's about. Our society is more emotionally controlled than it has ever been before. People are constantly talking about how something makes them feel, even weather is felt more than measured. Our consumer industry is as inconceivable without feelings as the success of populist politicians, which is down to their skill in stirring up fears. The social media? Purely emotion-driven. What does that mean for us? How do we deal with it? These are the questions of the evening. And because Hacke's readings are always about everything, he will also read the most cheerful texts from his complete works. The result will be an entertaining, relaxed and thought-provoking evening.

Axel Hacke is a writer and columnist for the Süddeutsche Zeitung magazine and lives in Munich. He is one of Germany's best-known authors and his books have been translated into numerous languages. He has been awarded the Joseph Roth Prize, two Egon Erwin Kisch Prizes, the Theodor Wolff Prize and most recently the Ben Witter Prize 2019 for his work. Further information at: www.axelhacke.de
