An exciting juxtaposition of Bach's Cello Suites Nos. 1 and 2, and rather unknown works by Carl Friedrich Abel and Tobias Hume - originally composed for viola da gamba and transferred to the violoncello by Anja Lechner.

Anja Lechner works with internationally renowned musicians from a wide range of cultures and genres; composers such as Arvo Pärt, Valentin Silvestrov and Tigran Mansurian have written works for her. Her wide-ranging experience - from being a founding member of the Rosamunde Quartet (1991-2009) to improvisation - is also reflected in her approach to her solo album. Anja Lechner - "one of the most outstanding cellists in the world" (Strings Magazine) - illuminates this music with her very own view of the works presented here, which were composed for violoncello and viola da gamba, and creates fascinating new connections between the works.
