Detectives Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) are on the road again. The duo are on the trail of a corruption scandal that leads them straight into the heart of the Miami police force. They find out about the whole thing through their late Captain Howard (Joe Pantoliano), who is posthumously accused of having been a mole for the drug cartels for years - and leaves the cops a clue. But an intrigue soon turns them into outcasts and they find themselves on the run. In order to prove their own innocence and that of Howard, they have to work outside the law according to their own rules - and on top of that, team up with Mike's estranged son Armando Aretas (Jacob Scipio), who is in a high-security wing after the events of the previous film...
