Bailenga

In the organizer's words:

[The Bailenga project was born in 2021 in Alessandria (northwest Italy) from the desire to bring the dimension of the popular festival to every location, offering a repertoire that is both danceable and listenable. The shows combine theatricality with popular song and dance to take the audience on an exciting and captivating experience. Bailengas' repertoire consists exclusively of traditional songs from northern and southern Italy. Each song is arranged in an original key and mixes sounds and rhythms that come from other cultures around the world, allowing the band to recognize themselves in a genre that has shaped them: spaghetti folk music.

In their first EP "Bailenga", released in October 2024, you will find polyphonic songs of different origins, music from the province of Quattro, classical Neapolitan music, Pizzica Salentina, Tammurriata from Campania, songs from Puglia and Sicily, Balfolk dances (polka, waltz, schottisch, chapelloise, etc.), Occitan dances (polka, waltz, schottisch, chapelloise, etc.).), Occitan dances, Albanian and Arbëresh songs and dances, Greek songs, Brazilian songs, dances and rhythms (forrò).
