This season, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra will once again be performing with a top-class soloist. The concert will be conducted by the Canadian Bernard Labadie, one of the leading interpreters of the baroque and classical repertoire. He has made guest appearances at the Salzburg Festival, Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, all leading US orchestras, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra. Labadie received the Samuel de Champlain Award and was appointed "Officer of the Order of Canada" in 2005 and "Chévalier de l'Ordre National du Québec" in 2006.
Nils Mönkemeyer is one of the most successful violists. He works with Sylvain Cambreling, Reinhard Goebel, Kent Nagano, Julia Fischer, Dorothee Oberlinger and Sabine Meyer, among others. He has performed with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed at the Elbphilharmonie, the Grosses Festspielhaus in Salzburg and the Schubertiade Vorarlberg.
The program includes works by Mozart and Rosetti, which are dedicated to the infinity of life between loss and triumphant power.
