Folksongs and Originals

With her current trio, guitarist and composer Barbara Jungfer devotes herself to the theme of "folk songs" in different ways: well-known and less well-known German folk songs are rearranged, dressed in colorful, exotic-looking garments, underlaid with non-European grooves and thus made to dance. Others sound lyrical and meditative.

With her own compositions, which are inspired by folklore and are sometimes reminiscent of alphorn echo, sometimes of Zwiefacher or Balkan blues, she skillfully illuminates the folk song theme from the other side. She builds a bridge from the past to the present, combining traditional song culture with jazz and at the same time the music of different cultures.

Barbara is supported by the Baden-Württemberg Jazz Prize winner Karoline Höfler on double bass and the Stuttgart drummer Ferenc Mehl.

Together, the trio creates exciting music and takes the audience on a very personal musical journey.
