In May 2025, MiR.LAB will transform the streets and houses of Gelsenkirchen's Neustadt district into the stage for a galactic spectacle: The BaRockOpera. A play full of spaceships, stars and alien planets - and YOU can be a part of it!
We are looking for people of all ages who would like to help shape this unique city project. Whether it's building the stage, tailoring costumes, painting scenery or being on stage yourself - we need your help! And the highlight: three live bands will rock the stage with us. In the tradition of great festivals and touring theater troupes, a play will be created that transforms the streets of Gelsenkirchen into an intergalactic adventure - with a story that tells of distant galaxies and yet is set very close to home. Join in and become part of our city spectacle!
WHAT:
Dorothee Schäfer, sculptor, is designing and developing a technical wonder with you: the "communication crystal". It is an object somewhere between a stone sculpture and state-of-the-art technology, a thing with sandy sides and cracked touchscreens. It is important in our story because it enables all conflicts to be resolved. In the workshop, we build the communication crystal. We experiment with stone, ceramics, electrics, electronics and more.
