It's been four years since Malte Huck left AnnenMayKantereit as bassist. Four years is not a lot of time compared to a human life. But enough to make a fresh start. Huck realized that he needed it about a year earlier on a trip through the USA and Mexico. The EP "i'll be gone for a little while" from 2022 was the first sign of life as BEACHPEOPLE and his idea of who he could be and what he wanted to sound like.
The single "LEAVING THE BAND", which will be released on October 18, keeps the zoom on Malte's decision to leave a band and thus end a successful career in favor of the hope of freedom, self-determination and ground contact. For the first time, he formulates in his own words what was previously just speculation and industry gossip and at the same time clears the way for himself. "I STOPPED TO COUNT THE NUMBERS AND STARTED TO DREAM AGAIN." In general, finding one's own voice and writing one's own story is a gentle but audible leitmotif. Softly because Malte Huck has been making music for so long and knows with a sure hand how his music should sound. But for the first time alone, without a band as a crumple zone. The subject of addiction crops up again and again, and with it the desire to get out, to be numb, a kind of inward-looking wanderlust. It is about arriving and leaving, the emptiness in the metropolis and the liberation on the paths in between.
