The bookstore Thalia is organizing a reading series "Authors from our region". As part of this event, author Mascha Vassena will be reading from her crime novel "The Skull of Sant'Abbondio".

The plot of the book in a nutshell:

For the fourth time, police interpreter Moira Rusconi goes on the hunt for the culprit in idyllic Ticino. A fifty-year-old skull is discovered in a vineyard - and Moira's father Ambrogio comes under suspicion! Then a mysterious audio recording emerges, a scandal involving poisoned wine also seems to play a role - and what happened to old Jacopo's cousin? The deeper Moira digs, the more pieces of the puzzle come to light, and she begins to suspect that dark secrets are hidden behind the peaceful facades of the village.

The reading is a charity reading in aid of the ADVENA hospice in Leipzig - a donation is requested.

Presented by: Mascha Vassena, who grew up in Würzburg, has published a collection of stories and eight novels with renowned publishers since 2005. She has been awarded the Hamburg Literature Prize and a scholarship from the Akademie Schloss Solitude. She lived in Switzerland on Lake Lugano for twenty years, where her literary crime series "Moira Rusconi investigates" is set. She has lived and worked in Leipzig since fall 2023.
