On February 27, the successful actress Martina Gedeck and the exceptional pianist Sebastian Knauer will present the scenic performance "American Dream - Memories of George Gershwin" as part of the "Berlin Cathedral Concerts".

George Gershwin crossed borders and was far ahead of his time, and not just musically. His cast of black singers was one of the first to break down racial barriers in American theaters, not only behind the scenes but also in the auditorium.

One of Germany's best-known and most successful actresses, Martina Gedeck, in the role of George's sister Frances, tells the exciting story of George Gershwin's life based on authentic testimonies from friends and companions: his meteoric rise from scrappy street urchin from New York's Eastside to celebrated Broadway star is like a successful Hollywood screenplay. Gershwin's grandiose compositions are interpreted by Sebastian Knauer. Including the solo piano version of "Rhapsody in Blue".
