Berliner Orchestertreff 2024 | Festival der Amateurmusik

In the organizer's words:

On the weekend of September 28/29, 2024, 30 orchestras and instrumental ensembles will present themselves at the Landesmusikakademie Berlin in the FEZ-Berlin. There will also be workshops, stands and exciting activities for children and families. Musical highlight: the open rehearsal led by Iván Fischer, Honorary Conductor of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin.

As the city's largest amateur music festival, the Berliner Orchestertreff is one of the most important events in Berlin's cultural life. Every four years, the diverse, committed amateur instrumental music scene meets at the Landesmusikakademie in the FEZ-Berlin in Park Wuhlheide. For two days, the ensembles share their joy of making music, their skills and their passion with a large audience, including many families with children.

The Orchestertreff 2024 can be realized thanks to extensive funding from the Lotto Foundation Berlin.
Berlin's State Secretary for Culture, Sarah Wedl-Wilson, is the patron of the event.

30 short concerts
The audience has the unique opportunity to get to know a wide variety of musical ensembles in short taster concerts on a total of 4 stages. Large and small symphony orchestras, plucked string and guitar orchestras, accordion orchestras, big bands, brass bands, trombone choirs, a fanfare band, a drumline and even a 100-piece cello orchestra will present themselves at a high musical level!

Open rehearsal
Berlin amateur musicians are cordially invited to take part in the open rehearsal on Saturday evening. It will be led by Iván Fischer, honorary conductor of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin and one of the most innovative artistic personalities of our time. A classical work will be arranged exclusively for the Orchestertreff in such a way that musicians with different plucked instruments, accordion and other instruments not used in the original can also play along.

Free public workshops
The workshops were already very popular at the previous orchestra meeting in 2019. Some helpful and stimulating courses will be offered again this year. These include "Breathing work in instrumental playing", "Music and dementia", "Afro-Cuban percussion "Musical speed dating", "Ensemble conducting for beginners", "Funding opportunities for amateur music" and many more.

Foyer meeting place
The Landesmusikakademie is open all day during the orchestra meeting. The cafeteria offers a wide range of food and drinks. The central meeting place is the spacious foyer. At the information stands of the members of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband and the Landesmusikrat Berlin e.V. as well as other cooperation partners, it is easy to get into conversation with each other.

Children's program
The children's program gives parents the opportunity to plan a visit to the orchestra meeting as an enjoyable family outing. This includes activities such as "build your own musical instruments", "hands-on construction site", "musical hat salon" and much more.

Orchestertreff 2024 will end on Saturday, October 12, with a big closing concert in the concert hall of the UdK Berlin, which is expected to be broadcast live on rbbKultur.
