One drum set is not enough: globetrotter Bernhard Schimpelsberger is constantly collecting new percussion instruments on his travels. He moves virtuosically through various musical traditions and forms an unmistakable synthesis from them, earning him the admiration of colleagues and audiences worldwide. To kick off his fellowship at the Beethovenfest 2025, he joins forces with the vision string quartet to unite his percussion with a pioneering modern string quartet. Béla Bartók's relentlessly raw Quartet No. 4 merges with Schimpelsberger's multifaceted instrumentation; the boundaries between noise and sound, snare drum and violin become blurred.

Before the joint finale, both sides present themselves individually: in his piece "Passages", Schimpelsberger takes the audience into the sound worlds of the percussion music of India and Africa. The vision string quartet demonstrates its precise, agile interplay in Ravel's only string quartet. With "#Hashtags for String Quartet", a composition by first violinist Florian Willeitner, the four boys really turn up the heat.
