In the organizer's words:

The Groovaliscious Soundsystem, led by DJs Frankadelic and DJ Michelle, will be celebrating on Saturday in the Bernsteinbar with the finest rare funk & soul, hip hop and RnB on the turntables, vinyl only!

...Wait a minute, THE Frankadelic ?

Yes exactly, the club people among us who have been around for a while know about him. Frankadelic is the groove mastermind, his name says it all, in the name of his roots he knows about the depth of funk & soul.

As an artist, he has been shaping the music style for decades; with Groovalicious he has been celebrating in the Bernsteinbar for what feels like an eternity, no one knows exactly how long. He also played where Funk&Soul in Hamburg began to write its undisputed Hanseatic history: in the Soulkitchen in Bernhard Nocht Strasse;... between 1990 and 1994, in the former Kiez location -Rififi-, the "SeelenKüche" was one of the most debauched dance halls of Hamburg's nightlife for four years.

The music as a whole owes a great deal to all the Soulsisters & Funkbrothers active there. In the 60s, soul combined elements of rhythm & blues and jazz and led to funk. Later, the band -The Winstons- released the track -Amen Brother- in 1969, in which a four-bar drum solo by Gregory C Coleman in the middle of the song created a funk break that went down as one of the most frequently used samples in music history.

This sample formed the basis for the music styles HipHop, Jungle and Drum`n`Bass; from which many styles developed that are currently popular in our clubs, such as Trap, Rap, Drill, G-Funk, Dubstep, Grime, TripHop...
