With these words, the legendary concert promoter Fritz Rau, who, alongside the Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton, has brought the entire world elite of blues, rock and jazz to the stages of Europe, ennobled the songwriter and guitarist. And rightly so, because Matthias "Biber" Herrmann, who hails from the Rhine-Main delta, combines singer/songwriter poetry, virtuoso guitar artistry and stomping acoustic blues into an exquisite mixture that has its own language and coloring. On his current album "Last Exit Paradise", he tells of light and shadow, explores the deeper corners of the soul with a smoky voice, sings of love, breaks and new beginnings and the urge to set a new course in life again and again. He looks at political and social developments with an open mind and takes a stand in his songs.
