Steel, coal and beer - this combination has made Essen famous. The steel industry, Ruhr mining and the brewing industry belong together in the Ruhr region, because it is hot in front of the blast furnace and underground, the work is hard and the air is dry and dusty. The workers were thirsty - very thirsty. And the breweries made sure that their thirst was quenched.
