Bigger, Better, Bike

The European Outdoor Film Tour has been around for over twenty years, the Ocean Film Tour for over ten years and now something new, something big is coming. Here comes the new BIKE FILM TOUR.

In the six films of our first BIKE FILM TOUR program, the bike is guaranteed to show itself from its best side!

An absolute highlight is the film "This is my moment", in which cyclist Biniam Girmay tells the story of his unique journey. It begins in his home country of Eritrea and leads him to winning the green jersey at the Tour de France 2024. The Transcontinental Race is another cycling race that is part of the Tour, albeit of a completely different nature. The name says it all, as it starts in France and ends in Turkey. The film of the same name provides insights into the emotional world of the protagonists and shows how they deal with the challenges.

Transcontinental Race

4,000 kilometers on a bike across Europe - unsupported. This is the Transcontinental Race (TCR). The toughest bike race in the world.

In summer 2024, the race will take place for the tenth time, starting in Roubaix and finishing in Istanbul. Jana Kesenheimer and Joschka Völkel are among the 302 ultracycling athletes. They will be on their bikes almost continuously for a week and will hardly ever see their competitors. This is because in the TCR, everyone rides on their own and, apart from a few obligatory checkpoints, all riders can choose their route freely.

This is Joschka's first race of this kind; Jana, on the other hand, has more experience and has her sights firmly set on a place on the winners' podium. But the race is long and nobody knows what might happen along the way.

This is my moment

Biniam Girmay is the first black cyclist to win the green jersey at the Tour de France - a sensation in the still white-dominated world of professional cycling.

This is my Moment accompanies the exceptional talent from Eritrea on his way to the premier league of international cycling and provides an insight into the life of the professional cyclist between training, racing and family commitments: Starting with his first sporting successes in Africa, through a stay of several months in a training camp for young riders in Switzerland, to the moment when he signs his first contract with a European professional team and wins his first stage in a Grand Tour...

Building the Buffalo

With the Buffalo Bicycle, World Bicycle Relief has developed an extremely robust bicycle for countries in the Global South. The NGO aims to deliver one million bikes by 2025 - and thus make up to five million people more mobile.

Building the Buffalo tells the story of this special bicycle. Both the test riders from Kenya and the engineers from the USA have their say as they work together to adapt the Buffalo Bicycle even better to the harsh local conditions - so that even more children can cycle to school and the journey to work, the transportation of goods and healthcare in structurally weak regions become easier and more effective.

Upcycling

After years of cycling adventures on various continents, mountain bike pro Harald Philipp no longer wants to constantly push his limits, but wants to finally arrive somewhere.

He has found the ideal place for this in the Italian Maritime Alps. Here, he can design both his house and the surrounding trails according to his own ideas and seek out new uphill and downhill challenges with his e-mountainbike. For example, Harald cuts out overgrown, almost forgotten trails that have not been used for decades. This also goes down well with the locals, even if Harald will always remain "the German" for them.
