ill Callahan is an American musician who is best known for his introspective and minimalist songs. He has been active since the early 1990s and has made a name for himself as a solo artist and as the leader of the band Smog. His music moves between folk, indie rock and experimental sounds. Callahan's live performances are famous for their calm yet powerful presence. At his concerts, he manages to create an intimate atmosphere that captivates the audience with his deep voice and often sparse arrangements. Particularly remarkable is the way in which he creates a closeness to his listeners even in larger halls. His greatest successes include albums such as Sometimes I Wish We Were an Eagle (2009) and Dream River (2013), which were highly praised by critics and fans alike. In particular, I Feel Like the Mother of the World from Apocalypse (2011) and the title track from Shepherd in a Sheepskin Vest (2019) are examples of Callahan's poetic and often mystical writing style.
