Billie Marten on tour in Germany this fall with new album

Only a handful of artists have the rare gift of being able to create a whole world of emotions with just a few chords and words - Billie Marten is definitely one of them. With her soft, melancholic voice and introspective lyrics, she has long since established herself as one of the best British singer/songwriters.

Born Isabella Sophie Tweddle, Billie Marten grew up in the idyllic countryside of northern England. Through her parents, she discovered her love of music at an early age and was inspired by greats such as Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush and Nick Drake. She began writing her own songs as a child and released her first EP at the age of just 15. Her breakthrough came in 2016 with her acclaimed debut album "Writing of Blues and Yellows", which delighted critics and fans alike. With her second album "Feeding Seahorses by Hand", released in 2019, she deepened her introspective style, which she refined even further on "Flora Fauna" in 2021 - sometimes delicate and dreamy, sometimes haunting and experimental. On "Drop Cherries" (2023), she showed herself to be a mature artist who poetically explores universal themes such as love, nature and identity. Now the next chapter of her musical journey is on the horizon with "Dog Eared": recorded in New York and produced by Phil Weinrobe (known for his work with Adrianne Lenker and Buck Meek), it promises stirring lyricism and an even more intense soundscape thanks to an impressive group of musicians. The single "Feeling" already provided a first taste of this before the complete work "Dog Eared" is released on July 18.

Billie Marten's concerts feel like a warm embrace: they are characterized by moving moments, her fine sense of melody and a very special closeness to the audience. Her mixture of dreamy folk and atmospheric indie unfolds a unique intensity on stage - sometimes reduced and fragile, sometimes full of energy - her performances will be remembered for a long time.
