Bio-Soft-Sensors: Biologische Kunststoffe treffen auf Elektronik

In the organizer's words:

(How) can biodegradable material be used as an interactive interface? This workshop will take you into the exciting world of Bio-Soft-Sensors, where biodegradable materials, science and electronics are combined for innovative and sustainable experiments. Learn to make bioplastics from simple ingredients that you might even find in your own kitchen - and how the materials can be combined with electronics such as Arduino to create interactive, touch-sensitive surfaces that can be applied in areas of art and design.

This hands-on workshop will guide you through the entire process of creating flexible, conductive and biodegradable plastics that respond to touch, pressure or movement. Everyone is welcome: artists, creatives and all those who want to explore the interfaces between bio-based materials and technology in practical applications.

The "Bio Soft Sensors" workshop at the ligeti center is open to everyone. No previous knowledge is required. The workshop language is English.

Participants are asked to bring a laptop if possible.

The workshop will be led by Adriano Monteiro and Rafaela Pires. The professors teach at the Federal University of Goiás (Brazil) and have a background in multimedia composition and scenography and costume design respectively. The two will be working at the ligeti center from January to February as guest researchers.
