Black Archive Germany x Das ist kolonial. (Internationaler Museumstag - Eintritt frei!)

In the organizer's words:

The project, initiated by Cate Lartey, is dedicated to collecting and visualizing the diverse forms of expression of black, African and Afro-diasporic cultures and their everyday lives in Germany. The focus is on the question of how the beauty, depth and complexity of diasporic life can be shown beyond stereotypes. The aim is to create a visual archive that celebrates cultural identity, resilience and community. It is not only about documenting in the form of photographs, but also about creating new spaces for exchange. In this way, "Black Archive Germany" also sees itself as a platform on which encounters become possible and an affective community can emerge - a community that transcends geographical and cultural borders and gives marginalized perspectives more visibility in Germany's cultural and visual memory. Central questions of the project revolve around visual memory, cultural production and the development of new forms of seeing and being. Memory is revealed as something that can be (re)produced in feelings and connections - as action and thought that links networks of visible and invisible things.
