CHN 2024, Feature film, 110 min, FSK 12
Director: Guan Hu
with: Eddie Peng, Liya Tong, Jia Zhangke
Language: OmU (Mandarin with German subtitles)
A man and an animal on the edge of the Gobi Desert and on the edge of society. The man, called Lang, returns to his decaying hometown after a long stay in prison and searches for his old (or new?) life. The homeless dog, like hundreds of others, roams the empty streets and buildings in search of food and on the run from dog catchers. After situational rivalries, a deep bond develops between the two because they are each other's mirror image. In the background, China is dressing up for the Olympic Games.
This is, of course, a movie about a friendship between a human and a dog. But also about socio-economic changes in China, the price of too rapid growth and about second chances.
The film will be followed by the opening of the exhibition"Choreography" by Hyejeong Yoo.
