As part of "Hello, my name is Kunstbau.", we are transforming the Kunstbau into a living resonance space for Afro-diasporic history, present and future.
African Royality Zeitreise is a participatory art and education project for children and young people from the Black community and African diaspora. It focuses on questions of cultural heritage, identity, memory and empowerment.
Inspired by thinkers such as Cheikh Anta Diop, Frantz Fanon and collectives such as Tim Rollins & K.O.S., we take young people on a creative and exploratory journey through time: From the achievements of pre-colonial African kingdoms to the effects of colonialism and the theft of cultural assets to visions of a shared future. Performances, readings, music, theater, artistic workshops and interactive exhibitions will create an open space for exchange, remembrance and pride - a place for healing, visibility and new narratives.
You can expect: museum visits, empowerment workshops with rap, theater and collage and a joint closing event with an exhibition and performances. We focus on intergenerational dialog, low-threshold access and positive, self-empowering language.
