Between current and signal - sounds in transition: three acts are on the program this evening. They will explore the exciting relationship between analog and digital sound generation. Their interplay resembles an echo of machines in which archaic media, electronic hardware and experimental soundscapes meet - a field of tension that has characterized electronic music since its beginnings.

The Viennese duo Wechselstrom is dedicated to media archaeology and translates information from antiquated media such as magnetic tape or floppy disks into experimental compositions. The composer, performer and media artist Pamela Z works mainly with voice, live electronics, sampled sounds and video. Her solo works combine experimental extended vocal techniques, operatic bel canto, found objects, text, digital processing and wireless MIDI controllers that allow her to manipulate sounds through physical gestures. In - Birds of Paradise - Nadia Struiwigh creates soundscapes that draw on the influences of 90s jungle, electro and techno through hardware-driven electronic dance and ambient music. Hüma Utku unfolds a narrative dimension in - Dracones - in which a sonic narrative about motherhood through Buchla modular synthesis and field recordings fills the stage with intense, atmospheric sounds.
