Blaues Rauschen Festival – Lecture Talk „AI and Mixed Media“

An introduction to artistic creation with AI tools by and with Portrait XO

Hands on AI: Artist Portrait XO explores computational creativity, human-machine collaboration and investigates new formats and applications for future-oriented forms of art and sound. This lecture talk will explore different approaches to integrating AI into workflows for music production, installation and performance through the lens of Portrait XO's artistic creation. At the core of her work, the artist addresses biases in society, translates speculative opinions about AI and critiques the impact of AI on creativity, identity, underrepresented cultures and society. As part of BLAUES RAUSCHEN, she will give a reflective insight into her working methods and the tools she uses, some of which she is personally involved in developing.

This lecture and discussion is open to all interested parties, no prior knowledge of AI-generated design is required. No equipment is required to attend. Optionally, participants can bring their laptop to run their own experiments with AI and/or think about possible text prompts they would like to try out.

BLAUES RAUSCHEN 2025 - between innovation and reflection in electronic music and media art

Under the artistic direction of Karl-Heinz Blomann, the festival has been exploring the interfaces between "man and machine, reality and fiction, sound and silence" since 2017. It takes up current developments - from artificial intelligence and algorithmic composition to a return to analog sound worlds - and poses questions about authorship, artistic freedom and the limits of digital creativity. With its live format, BLAUES RAUSCHEN invites the audience to experience abstract art in a sensual way and to engage with aesthetic positions.
