The cult ensemble "Blechschaden" has been touring the world for over 40 years and creates an exuberant atmosphere in Würzburg during the Advent season. Blechschaden is the self-proclaimed world-famous "fun faction" of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra around its witty and lively founder Bob Ross. The twelve instrumental virtuosos have been pulling out all the stops with their brass instruments since they were founded in 1984. With each of their performances, they show that all kinds of music, whether pop or opera, musical or classical symphony, can be fun.
The philharmonic "foreign legionnaires" mix completely different musical genres into a highly entertaining cocktail of melodies, garnished with light-hearted and lively moderations and interludes. Between the pieces, their Scottish leader and horn player Bob Ross proves that not only the baton but also the microphone is in good hands and generously reaches into the humor box.
For all the serious professionalism with which the musicians master their instruments, one thing is always paramount for them: making the audience have fun with and around the music. The Münchner Merkur sums it up: "Blechschaden means the perfect blurring of all boundaries between serious and popular music."
