Fear of the dark, rats, of being alone, relegation and poverty. Fear of telling the truth, of losing your job, of not living up to your own expectations. Fear of being followed at night, of being pushed in front of the subway, of experiencing violence in public toilets. Fear of dying at work due to overwork, of not finding a job in the first place, of ending up on the street. Fear of dying while suffocating under bombs and rubble. Fear of dying without seeing home again.
Are these fears private or do they have a political context, linked to global conflicts or inequalities within our society?
Club Al Hakawati deals with the "politics of fear" - the fear machine that creates monsters and makes us live in a permanent state of emergency and crisis. Their theater piece asks how this machine can be stopped: How can fear be transformed into collective forms of class struggle?
