The history of the Institute for the Blind in texts and pictures:
Under the motto "Come I'll show you my world, come I'll show you who I am!", the children from the Institute for the Blind in Munich are presenting themselves in an unusually public way in an extensive photo exhibition and other events.
The Institute for the Blind is presenting the exhibition at three locations in the Neuhauser Trafo: the Munich City Library, the KULTUR IM TRAFO cultural center and the Munich Adult Education Center.
The photographs by Doris Jauch-Keil provide an insight into the lives of the children. The pictures by the social economist, who has worked at the Institute for the Blind for four decades, show the children, teenagers and young adults in an environment in which their individual strengths and talents are encouraged. A lively, cheerful and liveable place where they are accompanied with a great deal of empathy, passion and patience - in everyday life, at school, but also during special activities, tender encounters with alpacas, appearances in dazzling top model outfits or at art events.
The photo exhibition in the city library will be complemented by historical pictures and texts compiled by Franz Schröther from the Neuhausen History Workshop about the Institute for the Blind and the history of the building.
On Thursday, July 10 at 7.30 pm, Franz Schröther will shed light on the eventful history of the Institute for the Blind in an illustrated lecture.
