BLOND

If you've never been to a Blond concert, you've never lived. At some point, everyone has stumbled into a club or festival and been sucked into the incredible world of Lotta, Johann and Nina - only to strut in loud and proud in a glittery outfit the next time.

After just a few minutes, you realize that a Blond concert is a goddamn mass. After one and a half rounds, you've got the fan chants down pat - and you don't stop singing them even when you've long since been swept out by security. You sigh along to sweet pop crooning as you take off into distant spheres, stomp your foot to militant anthems and let yourself be grounded. Blond songs are appropriately bitter, but they also always have embracing irony ready for you, leaving you feeling cheerful and confident of victory.

Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra

The Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the most traditional orchestras in Germany. Founded in 1833 as a municipal orchestra by Wilhelm August Mejo in Chemnitz, it became increasingly important beyond the region. Oscar Malata was the first General Music Director of the newly opened opera house in 1909. Guest conductors such as Richard Strauss, Fritz Busch, Otto Klemperer, Bruno Walter, Erich Kleiber, Arthur Nikisch, Arnold Schönberg, Max Reger and Paul Hindemith performed with the orchestra. Between 1945 and 1974, Rudolf Kempe, Martin Egelkraut, Robert Satanowski, Gert Bahner and Gerhard Rolf Bauer left their mark on the orchestra. During the almost 20-year tenure of Dieter-Gerhardt Worm, the orchestra was given its current name. John Carewe (1993-1996), Oleg Caetani (1996-2001) and Niksa Bareza (2001-2007) worked in the opera house, which reopened in 1992. Between 2007 and 2016, Frank Beermann focused on CD productions, which helped the orchestra gain national attention and awards such as the ECHO Klassik. After Felix Bender served as acting GMD in 2016/2017, Guillermo García Calvo was General Music Director of Theater Chemnitz from 2017 to 2023.

In recent years, conductors such as Hermann Bäumer, Stefan Blunier, Peter Eötvös, Lawrence Foster, Peter Gülke, Leopold Hager, Pedro Halffter, Michail Jurowski, Stefan Soltész and soloistFrank Dupree, Veronika Eberle, Alban Gerhardt, Boris Giltburg, Bernd Glemser, Xavier de Maistre, Albrecht Mayer, Herbert Schuch, Valeriy Sokolov, Martin Stadtfeld, Jan Vogler, Carolin Widmann, Jörg Widmann and the Ensemble Kolsimcha in Chemnitz.

The Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra is a sought-after partner of various concert organizers. Guest performances have taken them to New York, Venice, Thessaloniki, Rome, Salzburg, Spain, Zurich, Linz, Vienna, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Munich, Berlin, Dresden as well as to festivals at Neuschwanstein Castle and the KlassikSommer Hamm. In addition to opera, operetta, musicals and ballet, its repertoire includes regular symphony concerts, chamber music evenings and concerts with large or small ensembles.
