Bloodflowers
Trip to the cosmos
In the style of psychedelic rock, the Bloodflowers combine dreamy, catchy melodies with spherical guitar riffs and experimental, screaming sounds to create their own cosmos of sound. For Indonesian singer and guitarist Nadia Wardi, spirituality and a love of things and people are essential components of her music. Together with Gereon Gründer (keys), Tristan Müller (bass) and Matthias Köhnen (drums), the band takes us into a world full of light, shadows and dreams. They are currently working in cooperation with the music label Tonzonen Records. In 2023, the Bloodflowers released their first album "NEBULA" and were nominated for the popNRW Prize 2023 as best newcomer band. Treated as an insider tip at the renowned Herzberg Festival, the band has already been highly praised in the media, according to 1Live: "Very beautiful, incredibly good. Cosmic, psychedelic - Nebula."
Visions Magazine: "If David Lynch were to shoot more Twin Peaks episodes, this would be the inspiration for the music. "A story of courage, love and self-discovery that reminds us that we have the power to realize our own dreams. The album "Nebula" is a disembodied, visual and musical journey through the world of Nebula's thoughts. The album is about a protagonist who lives in beautiful outer space and is confronted with the loss of a loved one. She tries to deal with her fears and the pain and process it in a positive way. The band released the album in December 2023.
"Beyond Brookhaven" are a four-piece alternative/indie band from Wuppertal consisting of Joscha David Mohs (vocals/guitar), Kolja Schröter (guitar), Lars Rominsky (bass) and Lukas Hahn (drums).
After forming in 2019, the band's musical output was limited to the studio and rehearsal room due to the pandemic, but this has done the song material no harm at all. With "Meander" and "Necessity for Poetry", two EPs were released and thus, figuratively speaking, two diaries of a self-discovery journey of sound.
Since August 2022, this melancholic, energetic sound, shaped by the British greats of indie music history in particular, has also been met with open ears live and rewards every second of attention. Songs by Beyond Brookhaven almost feel like the band of history itself. One moment, delicate fingers grope in dark introspection for the most imprisoned feelings, only to clench into an expressive fist the next moment and seek confrontation with all their might.
A confrontation that is always worthwhile (whether live or in the studio)!
CASINO GARDEN was founded in Wuppertal in 2017 by singer and guitarist Matthias Ballke (ge. Wiercinski), keyboardist Helene Ballke, bassist Oliver Kroker and drummer Alexander Alaimo Di Loro. The debut album SLIDE was released in 2018, which was well received in the underground shoegaze scene despite its low-budget production.
underground shoegaze scene around the globe. The American indie label Custom Made Music became aware of the Wuppertal band and released the album on cassette.
The second album GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER, which had a clear alternative rock flavor, was released the following year, also on Custom Made Music. VISIONS voted it demo of the month.
During the pandemic, their third album OLIVER OLIVER followed in 2021, this time on the British indie label Shore Dive Records. The consistently positive reviews from many critics should ensure promising concerts: the shoegazers managed to fill the band's coffers in difficult times, especially for small bands, and bring new partners on board for the follow-up album.
TRANSITION is the name of the fourth album, this time mixed by Jo Philippi (Vandermeer) and mastered by Schall und Wahn Studios. As the name suggests, the album marks a turning point in the band's history: Jonas Schoelen, who often helped out live on the drums, replaced founding member Alexander Alaim
replaced founding member Alexander Alaimo Di Loro and with David Burdina, Casino Garden now has a second guitarist.
