Bloodywood: Back on the live stages with second album In March 2025 for seven shows in Germany

The Indian band Bloodywood became a worldwide sensation with their debut album "Rakshak", released in 2022. They performed at the most important international metal festivals and toured Europe, Asia and North America. Their tour of Germany in 2023 was also completely sold out. Now the band, which combines Indian folklore with Western metal in a unique way, has announced their second, currently untitled album for early 2025; a first pre-release single will be released on October 16. It all began in 2016 as an idea from guitar and Indian flute-playing metalhead Karan Katijar from New Delhi: how about interpreting some of the most famous Bollywood songs as metal adaptations and, conversely, great metal hits in versions of Indian folklore? No sooner said than done: together with the lawyer and amateur singer Jayant Bhadula, he recorded the first songs under the name Bloodywood, which were an immediate success in India. With the cover of Linkin Park's "Heavy", the two-man band attracted international attention for the first time in 2017. In the same year, "Anti-Pop Vol. 1" was released, the first Bloodywood album, albeit still self-released and therefore unofficial, which only contained further cover versions. The following year, Bloodywood released the first self-written song "Ari, Ari" in collaboration with rapper Raoul Kerr, which was followed by the first official album "Rakshak" in 2022. The songs on this album, although always in the metal genre, are very different; what unites them is their strong influence of Indian folklore, manifested through the use of typical Indian instruments such as the dhol, various flutes and the one-stringed tumbi. All of this earned Bloodywood a description that is now traded as a genre in its own right: "Panjabi Metal". The international enthusiasm for the band, which had now grown into a sextet, was literally overwhelming - people all over the world wanted to experience their special sound live. The capacity of the booked venues grew steadily, but their shows were still sold out. After a long tour around the world, the band holed up in New Delhi this year and wrote the songs for the second album, which will be released in early 2025. At the same time, the first tours following this release were also announced. Once again, we can expect sold-out concerts, because it's hard to resist this mysterious mixture of Western metal and Indian folklore - what happens on stage is far too exciting for that.
