"Bohemian Rhapsody" tells the story of how Freddie Mercury and his band members Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon founded Queen - one of the most legendary rock groups of all time. The film follows Queen as they produce hit after hit, top the music charts and continue to develop their music. With songs as diverse as "Killer Queen", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "We Are The Champions" and "We Will Rock You", as well as countless others, the band achieved unprecedented success, making Freddie one of the most popular entertainers in the world. But behind the façade of success, Freddie struggles with his inner turmoil. Originally from Zanzibar, Parse is constantly searching for his place in the world, while at the same time trying to come to terms with a sexuality he can barely define himself in a society trapped in stereotypes and expectations. Freddie dares to resist, but pays the price. Seduced into a life of excess and driven by dark forces, Freddie breaks away from Queen to pursue a solo career. His attempt to reinvent himself as a solo artist ends in disappointment and further isolation.
Suffering from the lack of collaboration with Brian, Roger and John - his rock'n'roll family - Freddie finally realizes that the magic of Queen and the secret of their success lies in the fact that they work together and inspire each other. Freddie manages to reunite the band in time for "Live Aid" - the biggest concert of all time. But fate and his excessive lifestyle place a devastating obstacle in his path, one that forces him to face and accept his own mortality. After he once again manages to overcome his personal conflicts and all difficulties, the band gives the best concert in the history of rock music.
