On March 9, 2024, the Munich Wind Orchestra (boMUC) was officially founded at the Alter Wirt in Moosach. Around 30 committed musicians who were interested in setting up a symphonic wind orchestra came together last year on the initiative of Florian Kruse. After an initial intensive rehearsal phase, boMUC gave its premiere concert "Aufbruch" in the Stephanuskirche in Neuhausen in November 2023.

"It was a brilliant start," recalls Kruse, who had the idea for the boMUC project and took over the musical direction from the very beginning. "We played to a sold-out house and the audience was thrilled," the conductor continues.

With this enthusiasm and the all-round positive feedback, the founding of the association was on the agenda for 2024. During a rehearsal weekend, 19 founding members, almost all of whom had been with the orchestra from the very beginning, adopted the association's statutes. Henning Kühl was elected as chairman and Sarah Feigl as his deputy. Florian Kruse (conductor), Antonia Waldner (treasurer) and Dominik Wiedenmann (secretary) hold further positions on the board. Simon Deimel is the press officer. "We want to create a new constant for symphonic-concertante wind music in Munich," says Chairman Kühl, describing the orchestra's aspirations. "Although there are already many traditional wind music clubs or purely symphonic orchestras, we represent a novelty for the city's cultural offerings," Kühl continues.

By founding the association, the musicians are likely to have come a great deal closer to this goal. The next concert is also just around the corner.
